Scott County Regional Authority Awards Nearly $2.4 Million
bringing total funding since 1991 to over $50 Million
The Scott County Regional Authority (SCRA) announced today awards of nearly $2.4 million for the spring 2008 grant cycle.
Several representatives spoke of the value and impact these awards will have for their organizations:
Kay Hall, Creative Arts Curriculum Specialist, Davenport Community School District, Central High School & J.B. Young Intermediate, $32,880, Steel Drum Bands
Wanda Gardner, Director, LeClaire Community Library, $6,170, Family Reading Encouragement Program
Dan Breidinger, Assistant Race Director, Cornbelt Running Club, $25,000, 2008 Quad-City Times Bix 7 Mile Road Race Event
Tom Swanson, General Manager, River Music Experience, $20,000, computer technology upgrade and previous funding for Sound Lab, Performance Hall updates & River Music Theatre – Permanent Exhibit Area
The Authority received a total of 144 requests for funding totaling $4,333,832. A total of $2,383,938 was awarded to 89 projects benefiting residents of Scott County; $809,126 to go to local schools; $774,189 to local governments, and $800,623 to various non-profit entities.
This brings SCRA funding since 1991 to $50,303,198 for the benefit of people and organizations in our community.
The next grant cycle will be in the fall of 2008 with grant applications available September 1 and due to SCRA by October 1, 2008. The grant application will be available on the SCRA website: www.ScottCountyRegionalAuthority.com and also at the usual community sites.
