Scott County Regional Authority Awards Over $2.1 Million
bringing total funding since 1991 to over $52 Million
The Scott County Regional Authority (SCRA) announced today awards of over $2.1 million for the fall 2008 grant cycle.
Several representatives spoke of the value and impact these awards will have for their organizations:
John Kiley, Director of Social Action for the Diocese of Davenport, Thomas Merton House, Inc., $45,000, Café on Vine building purchase
Marcia Hartman, Technology Director, Bettendorf Community School District, $63,518, Activboards for Math Department
Susan Anderson, Senior Horticulture Manager for the City of Davenport Parks & Recreation Department, Friends of Vander Veer, Inc., $50,920, Music Pavilion at VanderVeerBotanicalPark
Greg Samms, General Manager, QuadCitySportsCenter, $40,000 toward total award of $80,000, Arena dehumidification system replacement
The Authority received a total of 159 requests for funding totaling $5,240,424. A total of $2,135,376 was awarded to 81 projects benefiting residents of Scott County; $693,578 to go to local schools; $738,581 to local governments, and $703,217 to various non-profit entities.
This brings SCRA funding since 1991 to $52,438,574 for the benefit of people and organizations in our community.
The next grant cycle will be in the spring of 2009 with grant applications available March 1 and due to SCRA by April 1, 2009. The grant application will be available on the SCRA website: ww.ScottCountyRegionalAuthority.com and also at the usual community sites.
