Scott County Regional Authority Awards Over $1.975 Million
bringing total funding since 1991 to over $54 Million
The Scott County Regional Authority (SCRA) announced today awards of over $1.975 million for the spring 2009 grant cycle.
Several representatives spoke of the value and impact these awards will have for their organizations:
Mike Freemire, Mayor, City of Bettendorf, $166,667 (total commitment to project over 10 years – $3,333,333), QC Waterfront Convention Center
Bob Morrison, Hub Director, Honor Flight of the Quad Cities, $20,000, WWII Memorial in D.C. – trips for veterans
Linda Wastyn, Associate VP for Advancement, St. Ambrose University, $35,000, Converting frying oil to biodiesel project
Mark Slagle, Chief, LeClaire Fire Department, $63,200, Turnout gear replacement
The Authority received a total of 153 requests for funding totaling $5,145,422. A total of $1,975,970 was awarded to 70 projects benefiting residents of Scott County; $663,839 to go to local schools; $661,117 to local governments, and $651,014 to various non-profit entities.
This brings SCRA funding since 1991 to $54,414,544 for the benefit of people and organizations in our community.
The next grant cycle will be in the fall of 2009 with grant applications available September 1 and due to SCRA by October 1, 2009. The grant application will be available on the SCRA website: www.ScottCountyRegionalAuthority.com and also at the usual community sites.
