Scott County Regional Authority Awards Nearly $1.8 Million
bringing total funding since 1991 to over $56 Million
The Scott County Regional Authority (SCRA) announced today awards of nearly $1.8 million for the fall 2009 grant cycle.
Several representatives spoke of the value and impact these awards have had or will have for their organizations:
Kay Hall, Creative Arts Curriculum Specialist, Davenport Community School District, Central High School & J.B. Young Intermediate, $32,880, Steel Drum Bands (grant awarded in the Spring 2008 cycle)
Debbie Jackson, Director of Development, Habitat for Humanity, $30,000, Building purchase and renovation (total of $60,000 awarded over 2 cycles)
Steve Ahrens, Development Director, City of Davenport – Levee Improvement Commission, Centennial Park Sprayground and Recreation Area, $50,000
Jeff Schwiebert, Superintendent, North Scott Community School District, $75,000, Promethean Activboards (total of $300,000 awarded over 4 cycles)
The Authority received a total of 144 requests for funding totaling $3,976,949. A total of $1,797,700 was awarded to 73 projects benefiting residents of Scott County; $597,448 to go to local schools; $597,448 to local governments, and $600,286 to various non-profit entities.
This brings SCRA funding since 1991 to $56,212,244 for the benefit of people and organizations in our community.
The next grant cycle will be in the spring of 2010 with grant applications available March 1 and due to SCRA by April 1, 2009. The grant application will be available on the SCRA website: www.ScottCountyRegionalAuthority.com and also at the usual community sites.
